There are certain signs that spring is in the air here , one of them is seeing the big hovercraft this morning which is in our area to break up the ice for the fishermen, another is seeing the ducks that have arrived from down south. The last sign is seeing the fishermen grouping together talking at the harbour anxious to start fishing lobster. The conversation is always the same, it's something like , I think the season will open a week late this year, do you think we are going to get a good price for our lobster? A little bit of gossip and a few jokes (yes men gossip too ) These are the older fishermen who will soon be handing over their boats to their sons and on and on it goes. Happy Sunday
Gee you still have alot of snow there. We have been out in shorts the last few days. It has been really nice, though we are getting cooler weather this coming week and rain every day it looks like. I will have the 2 granddaughters tomorrow all day - have to think of something to keep them busy. Had a great idea but not if it is going to rain. They are 6 and 8 years old.
Yes it would seem spring has sprung in your part of the world. I have to laugh at the little annual spring traditions of standing waiting the spring and the lobster fishing season in. Fishing seems to be a thing handed down from generation to generation. Fisherman in Hout Bay and Kalk Bay in Cape Town have the same tradition of fathers passing their boats and their best fishing spots down to their sons!
