Ian McEwan’s post-modern love story comes to the screen in a fine adaptation that captures the nuance and heartbreak. Keira Knightly is the thin beauty courted by the housekeeper’s son (James McAvoy); their affair is doomed by the interference of her young sister (wonderful newcomer Saoirse Ronan.) Director Joe Wright paces the story on two levels, and manages to include a war scene that is the most haunting in memory. I really loved this movie~At first I thought I am not going to like this movie ~ then I fell in love with it~it is the kind of a movie that you will go over in your head many times after viewing it. You keep coming back to it thinking of different parts of it , to me that makes it a good movie. I can still hear the drumming of her (Saoirse Ronan) typewriter and her heels clicking the floor !!
